Responsible Housing For Immigrant Laborers
The Coachella Valley, which includes Palm
Springs and many resorts and golf courses, is home to some
of the wealthiest politicians and celebrities in the world.
Yet, within short distances are pockets of extreme poverty
where immigrant laborers live without running water or sewage.
One such community - known as Duraville - sits on the Torres
Martinez Indian Reservation and is largely immune from local
regulations.
Integrating Coachella's work force into the larger community
and working to ensure that all residents have safe and healthy
living conditions is a new project for CURE.
